LUDHIANA:

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the Punjabi music industry, 29-year-old singer Inder Kaur, popularly known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead in the Neelo canal near Ludhiana on Tuesday morning. The recovery of her body ends a frantic six-day search that began after she was allegedly abducted at gunpoint on May 13.

According to her brother’s statement to the police, the singer left her home around 6:30 PM on May 13 in her personal vehicle to buy household items. When she failed to return and her mobile phone remained unreachable, the panicked family launched a search operation and subsequently registered a formal missing person complaint with the local police.

Horrifying Plot Unfolds

As the police investigation intensified, a sinister plot of obsession and coercion began to surface. Family members have raised serious allegations, claiming that Inder Kaur was kidnapped at gunpoint and targeted because she refused a forced marriage proposal.

The family has named Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Moga currently based in Canada, as the prime accused. Investigators revealed that the singer was acquainted with Singh.

“The accused was already married and has children, yet he relentlessly pressured her to marry him,” a relative stated. The family further alleged that Singh orchestrated the entire conspiracy from Canada and has already fled abroad after ensuring the execution of the crime.

Police Launch Murder Probe

The Ludhiana police recovered the body from the canal at approximately 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Senior officials confirmed that the case has now been upgraded to a murder investigation.

“We are probing the matter from all angles, including the kidnapping charges and the forced marriage pressure alleged by the family. Forensic teams are examining the evidence, and we are tracking the call details and logistical movements of the suspects involved,” a senior police official privy to the investigation said.

The body has been sent to the local civil hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death. Further developments are awaited as police look into international transit records to trace the accused.
